Behind the Scenes at Universal Orlando: Exciting Updates to DreamWorks and Halloween Horror Nights Construction!

Universal Orlando has always been a popular destination for thrill-seekers and families alike, and it looks like the excitement is only going to get better! As we enter into the summer season, there are some major updates and construction projects happening at Universal that are sure to get you even more pumped for your next visit. From a new DreamWorks attraction to the highly-anticipated Halloween Horror Nights, here’s all the latest news and updates straight from the park.

DreamWorks Land Update

One of the most exciting developments happening at Universal Orlando is the construction of DreamWorks Land. This new area is set to open in the summer of 2024 and will feature all of your favorite characters from DreamWorks animated films such as Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and more. The centerpiece of this new land will be the “Troller Coaster,” a re-themed version of the popular Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster.

Recently, guests have been able to catch a glimpse of the coaster testing as they walk through the park. From what we can see, it looks like a colorful and thrilling ride that is sure to be a hit with both kids and adults. In addition to the coaster, there will also be a “Boom Box” food stand and a Donkey character meet-and-greet spot. The attention to detail in this new land is truly impressive, with even the construction site featuring fun elements like spiders on the spiderweb-like track.

Halloween Horror Nights 2024

For all you horror lovers out there, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando is right around the corner. While we don’t have all the details just yet, there have been some exciting updates happening in preparation for this year’s event. First off, the Mardi Gras festivities have come to an end, which means that Universal’s famous “Tribute Store” has closed its doors. But don’t worry, because it looks like Universal has something even bigger and better planned for this summer.

In the meantime, if you’re looking to get your horror fix, head over to the Five & Dime store on Hollywood Boulevard. Here, you can find Halloween Horror Nights merchandise such as hats, tumblers, and shirts. Keep an eye out for the “Where Horror Lives” A-frame sign and window decorations throughout the park as well. It’s clear that Universal is gearing up for another spooktacular event that you won’t want to miss.

2024 Eclipse Viewing at Universal Studios

On a non-theme park-related note, we have to mention the recent solar eclipse that was visible in parts of the United States. On the day following Mardi Gras, Universal Orlando was open and guests were lucky enough to experience the eclipse while in the park. While some special glasses were required to view the eclipse safely, Universal took it upon themselves to provide guests with a unique experience. Security guards were seen wearing glasses and one even had an extra pair for guests to take a look through.

New Merchandise at the Universal Studio Store

If you’re a sucker for theme park merchandise (let’s be real, who isn’t?), then you’ll want to pay a visit to the Universal Studio Store. This is where you can find all of the latest and greatest souvenirs from your favorite attractions. Recently, they have released some new retro-style merchandise featuring characters from ET, Transformers, Minions, and more. There are t-shirts, tumblers, mugs, patches, and even a coaster set available for purchase. Plus, there’s a “year of the dragon” collection on sale as well.

But wait, there’s more! The Horror Nights t-shirts are now available at the Five & Dime store and feature a spooky image of a pumpkin. Upon closer look, you’ll notice that this pumpkin has some similarities to the one on the Horror Nights 2021 event logo. Could this be a hint at what’s in store for this year’s event? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Behind the Scenes of DreamWorks Land

Finally, let’s talk about the construction work that is happening behind the scenes at Universal Orlando. As we mentioned earlier, DreamWorks Land is taking shape, and the Troller Coaster is being tested. But that’s not all that’s happening. There is also work being done at the Lagoon, where a new nighttime show is in the works. There are rumors that this show will feature cutting-edge technology and be unlike anything Universal has done before.

In conclusion, there’s a lot happening at Universal Orlando, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. From new lands and attractions to merchandise and events, there’s something for everyone to look forward to. So plan your visit now, and get ready for an unforgettable experience at Universal Orlando!
