What tickets do I need for Universal Orlando?
Universal Orlando offers several ticket options:
- 1-Park Ticket – Access to one park of your choice ( Studios, Islands of Adventure, or Epic Universe)
- 2-Park Ticket – Access to two parks per day (Studios + Islands of Adventure)
- 3-Park Ticket – Access to all three parks including Epic Universe
- Park-to-Park Add-On – Required for Hogwarts Express and certain dining experiences
How far in advance should I buy tickets?
We recommend purchasing tickets at least 1-2 weeks in advance, though for popular times (holidays, summer), consider buying 2-4 weeks early. Early purchase ensures availability and often better pricing. Volcano Bay is included free with 3-park tickets!
What hotels do you recommend?
Universal has three resort tiers:
- Premier Hotels (Portofino Bay, Hard Rock) – On-site, free express pass, closest to parks
- Preferred Hotels (Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls) – On-site, complimentary express pass
- Value Hotels (Cabana Bay, Aventura, Endless Summer) – Budget-friendly, shuttle service
On-site guests get early entry to select parks and free transportation.

How do I use the Universal Orlando app?
The Universal Orlando app is essential for your visit:

- Virtual Queue Access – Join Virtual Lines for select attractions
- Showtimes & Entertainment – Schedule of live shows and events
- PhotoPass – View and purchase ride photos

How does Virtual Queue work at Epic Universe?
Epic Universe uses a Virtual Queue system for some attractions:
- Free Virtual Queue – Available via the Universal Orlando app at 7 AM and 1 PM daily
- Guests with Premier Hotels receive early access to Virtual Queue
- Hold times are typically 30-90 minutes
- Popular attractions that use Virtual Queue include Harry Potter and the Battle for the Ministry and Flying Forge
Can I bring food and drinks into the parks?
Yes, with some restrictions:
- Allowed: Snacks, sandwiches, fruit, baby food, small coolers (no larger than 8.5″ x 6″ x 6″)
- Not Allowed: Alcohol, glass containers, large coolers, wheeled bags
- Prohibited: Weapons, selfie sticks on rides, outside alcohol
Water bottles are allowed and can be refilled at fountains.
Dining FAQ
Do I need reservations for restaurants?
Reservations are recommended for:
- Table-Service Restaurants – Three Broomsticks, Myth, The Cowfish
- Character Dining – The Palm, various hotel restaurants
- Popular Spots – Antojitos, Bigfire, Myth
You can make reservations 60 days in advance via the Universal Orlando app or website.
What are the best quick-service options?
Great quick-service options across the parks:
- Islands of Adventure: Thunder Terrace, Three Broomsticks Quick-Service
- Studios: Richter’s Pretzel Haus, Krusty Burger, Finnegan’s
- CityWalk: Voodoo Doughnut, Wing Cone, Hot Dog Hall of Fame
Height Requirements
What are the height requirements for rides?
Height requirements vary by attraction:
- No Height Requirement: Most dark rides, carousels, gentle children’s rides
- 36 inches (3 feet): Flight of the Hippogriff, Skull Island Reign of Kong
- 40 inches: Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge
- 48 inches (4 feet): Harry Potter coasters, Incredible Hulk, Rip Ride Rockit
- 51 inches: VelociCoaster, Hagrids Magical Creatures
- 54 inches: Some attraction expansions
Children under 48 inches should check restrictions carefully. Under 7 must be accompanied by a supervising companion (14+).

Genie+ & Express Pass
What is Universal Express Pass?

- Limitations: Not valid during peak events, not on Virtual Queue attractions at Epic Universe
Note: Express Pass at Epic Universe is limited and not included with hotel stay.
What’s the difference between Express and Express Unlimited?
Express Pass: One-time use per attraction per day
Express Unlimited: Unlimited uses on the same attractions all day
Prices vary by season and day of the week. Unlimited can save significant time during busy periods.
Parking Info
How much is parking at Universal Orlando?
Standard parking rates:
- Self-Parking: $27-$30 per day (varies by season)

- Valet: Available at premium rates
Parking is free for Premier Hotel guests. Multi-day parking passes available at discount.
