What Universal Has Confirmed
Animal Actors on Location! opened June 7, 1990 as Animal Actors Stage. It became Animal Planet Live in 2001 and took its current name in 2006. The concept stayed recognizable: trained animals performed routines while the show explained how animal performers work in film and television.
Universal has confirmed the November 2 closing date and said a future experience will replace the attraction. The company has not named a franchise, format, construction timeline or opening year.
Why This Closure Carries More Weight
The show is one of the few experiences left from Universal Studios Florida’s first year. E.T. Adventure and Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show are the other major opening-day survivors, although Horror Make-Up has changed over time.
Animal Actors also survived the closure of Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone and the 2024 opening of DreamWorks Land. That history makes its exit feel less like routine park maintenance and more like the final step in reshaping this corner of the park.
What Could Replace Animal Actors?
Nothing beyond a future experience is official. A DreamWorks connection would fit the neighboring land, while Hollywood or Springfield could support a different concept. Those are location-based possibilities, not announced projects.
The useful clues will be permits, the scale of demolition and a direct Universal announcement. Until then, any named franchise should be treated as speculation. Universal is already changing older parts of both parks, including the former Sinbad theater area and the closed Fast & Furious: Supercharged building.
