Fast & Furious: Supercharged Closing August 16, 2026

Fast & Furious: Supercharged now has an earlier finish line. Universal says the attraction’s final operating day at Universal Studios Florida will be Sunday, August 16, 2026. It will close permanently beginning August 17, months ahead of the previously announced 2027 timeframe.

The closing date has been confirmed, but the future of the large Supercharged building remains uncertain. Universal linked the change to the debut of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift in 2027, but no replacement attraction for the San Francisco space has been announced. Back to the Future, Jaws, Ghostbusters, and Harry Potter ideas remain rumors or fan speculation.

The New Fast & Furious: Supercharged Closing Date

Universal shared the accelerated timeline with Annual Passholders on July 15. August 16 is the last scheduled day to ride; the permanent closure takes effect the next day.

Supercharged opened in 2018, so its run will end after a little more than eight years. The attraction combined two live pre-shows with a party bus ride through a large screen tunnel. Its team-member-led queue scenes often earned more affection than the ride itself, but the indoor attraction still supplied useful capacity and an air-conditioned break in the San Francisco section of the park.

Why an August Closure Makes Operational Sense

The timing lands just before Halloween Horror Nights begins on August 28. Universal has used part of the Supercharged queue and nearby backstage space for a haunted house, and the ride has gone into a seasonal hiatus during recent HHN seasons. Closing permanently before that transition means the park will not need to reopen the attraction after the event.

That is a logical operational explanation, not proof that a replacement project is ready to start. Universal has not said demolition, conversion work, or a new attraction will begin in the building this fall.

There is another important distinction: Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is rising on the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit site, not inside the Supercharged building. Universal’s “make way” language describes the resort’s move to a new Fast & Furious headliner; it does not mean the old ride must be cleared for the coaster’s physical footprint.

What Could Replace Supercharged?

For now, the honest answer is that Universal has not announced anything for the space. That matters because the building is unusually large and was designed around a 360-degree screen tunnel. A quick media swap would be easier than gutting it for a completely different ride system, but easier does not mean approved.

  • Back to the Future: Theme Park Stop reports this as the strongest recurring rumor, possibly as a temporary overlay. Universal has not confirmed it.
  • Jaws or Ghostbusters: These are fan-favorite concepts that would restore a classic Universal property, but no official project has been announced.
  • A Diagon Alley expansion: Fans have suggested replacing the buses with Knight Buses and extending the Wizarding World. This also remains speculation.

The next useful clues would be permits tied to the building, substantial interior demolition, new work walls, or a direct Universal announcement. Until one of those appears, a familiar franchise name in a rumor should not be treated as a future attraction.

Hollywood Drift Changes the Fast & Furious Equation

Universal has confirmed that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will open at Universal Studios Florida in 2027. The outdoor coaster will use rotating ride vehicles to simulate drifting and feature a 170-foot vertical spike near CityWalk.

For thrill-ride fans, that is the bigger shift. Supercharged delivered a screen-heavy bus experience with limited motion. Hollywood Drift is being built around speed, height, and physical track elements—the qualities most visitors expected from this franchise in the first place.

Should You Plan One Last Ride?

If Supercharged is part of your Universal history, visit by August 16 and check the official Universal Orlando app on your park day. Ride availability can still change because of weather, maintenance, or daily operations, and Universal has not announced a formal farewell event.

It is probably not worth rebuilding an entire vacation around one final party-bus trip. But if you already want a summer Universal visit, our Universal Orlando discount ticket guide can help you compare legitimate ticket options before you buy. Once you are in the park, riding earlier in the day gives you more room to recover if the attraction has a temporary delay.
