The resort announced on January 20, 2026, that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will debut at Universal Studios Florida in 2027. The new roller coaster will replace the current Fast & Furious: Supercharged attraction, which is set to permanently close next year to make way for this high-octane addition.
What We Know About Hollywood Drift

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is an outdoor roller coaster featuring 360-degree drifting maneuvers. The signature element: a 170-foot vertical “spike” that sends riders nearly 17 stories in the air, overlooking the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.
The experience puts guests in the driver’s seat of the Fast & Furious universe, blending Universal’s latest coaster technology with the franchise’s signature street racing action.
How It Compares to Supercharged
The current Fast & Furious: Supercharged is a motion simulator that immerses riders through screens and story. Hollywood Drift switches to a full outdoor roller coaster format—similar to how Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure deliver physical thrills rather than screen-based experiences.
The new coaster shares a name with the Universal Studios Hollywood version opening first (later this year), but Universal notes the Florida version won’t be a carbon copy. The Hollywood version features 4,100 feet of track and speeds up to 72 mph—expect Florida’s to be equally ambitious.

Timeline
- 2025: Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit closes (replaced by construction)
- Late 2025/Early 2026: Universal Studios Hollywood’s Hollywood Drift opens
- 2027: Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift opens at Universal Studios Florida
- 2027: Fast & Furious: Supercharged permanently closes
Why This Matters
Universal is clearly committed to Fast & Furious as a cornerstone franchise for its parks. By shifting from a screen-driven simulator to a physical roller coaster experience, the company is aligning the brand with its most popular modern attractions.
The existing Supercharged ride has run for a decade at Universal Studios Florida. Its replacement signals a new era for Fast & Furious fans looking for next-level thrills.
