Universal’s Epic Universe theme park is set to open in Orlando in 2025, and fans are eagerly awaiting its arrival. In the meantime, Universal has released some exciting updates on what we can expect from this highly anticipated new addition to their portfolio.
From the Super Nintendo World zone to the arrival of dragons and new theming, let’s explore all the latest developments at Epic Universe.
Super Nintendo World Details
For many theme park enthusiasts, the highlight of Epic Universe will undoubtedly be Super Nintendo World. And now, Universal has finally revealed some official details about the Super Nintendo World area.
Upon entering through the iconic green warp pipe, guests will find themselves in the Super Mario Land section of Super Nintendo World. Mount Beanpole, Peach’s Castle, and Bowser’s Fortress are just a few of the impressive buildings that will greet them here.
But the real excitement lies within the rides of this zone. The indoor interactive dual-track dark ride, Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge, will use augmented reality projection mapping technology to bring the iconic game to life. With a minimum height requirement of just 42 inches, this ride is fun for the whole family.
Next up is Yoshi’s Adventure, a family-friendly ride that offers breathtaking views of Super Mario Land as guests join Yoshi on a journey through the Mushroom Kingdom. This ride also has a surprisingly low minimum height requirement of just 36 inches.
And for thrill-seekers, Minecart Madness is the place to be. This roller coaster uses innovative technology to bring real-life versions of maneuvers seen in the video game world to life. With a minimum height requirement of just 36 inches, even younger fans can join in on the fun.
But that’s not all. Universal has confirmed that all eight PowerUp band designs, including new ones featuring Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, will be available for purchase. And with these bands, guests can unlock additional experiences throughout the area.
Exciting Epic Universe Construction Updates
As construction continues at Epic Universe, we can see some progress being made in the various zones of the park.
In Super Nintendo World, the portal ring has been installed at the entrance, and scaffolding has come down around the front of Bowser Jr’s Lair. We can also see dragon figures being installed on the Yoshi ride and themed elements added to Universal Monsters.
But perhaps the most exciting development is the progress being made on the Minecart Madness ride. The reflective gold paint has been added to the temple facade, and work has started on the exterior queue areas. This ride is shaping up to be a truly immersive experience for guests.
Other developments at Epic Universe include the addition of a new Dragons zone and a circus tent in The Wizarding World. These new areas promise to add even more depth and excitement to this highly-anticipated theme park.
