Is Universal’s Epic Universe Orlando’s Best Theme Park?
Orlando, Florida is known for its abundance of theme parks, each one offering its own unique brand of entertainment and thrills. However, the newest addition to the theme park scene, Universal’s Epic Universe, may just take the top spot as the best theme park in Orlando. After spending a full day exploring the 5 themed worlds of Epic Universe, I can confidently say that this park offers something truly special and unforgettable.
First Impressions: Entering the Majestic Emerald Gate
My journey at Epic Universe began on the very first day of annual passholder previews. As I entered through the majestic Emerald Gate into Celestial Park, I couldn’t contain my excitement. The park was open from 11am to 9pm, and I was determined to make the most of every minute.
Virtual Line Strategy: A Must for Popular Rides
Before diving into the themed worlds, I knew there was one thing I had to take care of – securing a virtual line pass for the brand new Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride. This ride, like many others at Epic Universe, operates solely on a virtual line system. Using the Universal app, I attempted to snag a virtual line spot as soon as they were released at 11am. However, due to high demand and technical difficulties with the app, I was not successful. But don’t worry – more virtual line passes are continuously released throughout the day.
Super Nintendo World: A Gamer’s Paradise Found
With that out of the way, it was time to start exploring! I headed straight to Super Nintendo World, one of the most highly anticipated areas in Epic Universe. As a fan of the original Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan, I was ecstatic to see a near-identical version here in Orlando. From the LED-wrapped portals to the Mario warp pipes that transport guests to another world, Super Nintendo World was an immersive and exhilarating experience.
Celestial Park: A Tranquil Escape
Next up was Celestial Park, a tranquil oasis that serves as a transition between the themed worlds. I spent some time wandering through this beautiful and serene area before grabbing a bite to eat at The Oak & Star Tavern Barbeque and Brewhouse. The food was delicious, and the open-air ambiance made me feel like I was truly dining in a park.
Dark Universe: A Gothic World of Mystery
Moving onto Dark Universe, one of the most visually stunning areas in Epic Universe. This gothic-inspired world is home to the highly anticipated Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride. Unfortunately, I was unable to ride this attraction due to the virtual line system, but I still enjoyed exploring the eerie streets and discovering hidden details throughout the area.
Isle of Berk: Where Dragons Come to Life
As I made my way back to Celestial Park for the 6pm virtual line drop, I couldn’t help but stop by Isle of Berk, based on the popular film series “How to Train Your Dragon.” The attention to detail in this world was impeccable, and I even caught a glimpse of some Viking characters wandering around.
Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry: A Ride Review
Finally, it was time for my second attempt at securing a virtual line pass for the Harry Potter ride. With a bit more luck and patience, I was able to snag a spot for 3pm and eagerly made my way back to Dark Universe. As expected, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry did not disappoint. The cutting-edge technology, immersive storyline, and jaw-dropping effects made this ride a must-do for any Harry Potter fan.
Epic Universe at Night: A Different Kind of Magic
As the day drew to a close, I took some time to explore Epic Universe at night. The park takes on a whole new level of magic as it lights up with colorful projections and illuminated pathways. It was the perfect way to end an already incredible day at Epic Universe.
Final Verdict: Why Epic Universe is a Must-Visit
In conclusion, Universal’s Epic Universe is truly the best theme park in Orlando. From its immersive themed worlds and innovative attractions to its captivating ambiance and attention to detail, this park has something for everyone. My only piece of advice – be sure to arrive early and have patience with the virtual line system. It’s well worth the wait to experience all that this amazing park has to offer.
