Epic Universe: A New Frontier in Theme Parks
Universal Studios is one of the most iconic theme parks in the world, known for its incredible attractions and immersive experiences. With four parks already in operation, fans have been eagerly anticipating the opening of Universal’s fifth park, Epic Universe. The newest addition to the Universal family is set to open in 2025 and promises to be an epic adventure for guests. Construction has been underway for some time now, but recent updates have given us a closer look at what’s to come.
The Iconic Kronos Tower: Gateway to Adventure
One of the most significant milestones in the construction process was the topping off of the Kronos Tower, located at the entrance of Epic Universe. This tower will act as the park’s front gate, featuring a portal for guests to enter through. The base of the tower already showcases the iconic Epic Universe logo, and it was recently topped off with an American flag – a tradition in construction projects to symbolize a significant milestone being reached.
Celestial Elements and Decorative Touches
The Kronos Tower is also home to several celestial elements, with planets and stars orbiting around it. These elements are currently covered with protective plastic during construction, but it appears that they may feature twinkling lights once completed. The top sphere of the tower represents either the sun or the Helios hotel – the Greek representation of the sun – located at the back of the park. Beyond these main elements, there will also be statues and other decorations installed, according to a model on display at the Epic Universe preview center.
Transformations in the Entry Courtyard
The tower is not the only area in Epic Universe that has seen significant progress. The entry courtyard has also undergone plenty of changes recently. A detailed rockwork motif can be seen throughout this area, which sets the tone for Celestial Park – the central hub of Epic Universe. The entry plaza will also feature multiple arches, resembling green ironwork, with golden sunburst accents. These arches frame the entrance to the park and create a stunning visual for guests as they enter.
Innovative Security Measures: Facial Recognition at Epic Universe
Security and ticketing are also receiving major updates at Epic Universe. Similar to the existing Universal parks, guests will go through a security check before entering the park. However, Epic Universe is expected to use facial recognition technology, allowing guests to enter without scanning their tickets. There will also be kiosks available for those who need to connect their face with their ticket upon arrival.
Ticketing and Parking Updates
The building to the left of security is designated for ticketing, with a round roof and covered areas for queuing. As for parking, Epic Universe will have a massive parking lot located between the north and south parking lots at the resort. This lot has been utilized by construction workers in recent years, but now it is being prepared for the park’s opening. The lines in the lot have been redrawn to accommodate two cars per spot, similar to other theme park parking.
Future Plans: The Potential of a Moving Walkway
Interestingly, there is a long strip of undeveloped land between the north and south parking lots that leads all the way to the theme park entry plaza. While it is still uncertain what this area will be used for, plans seem to refer to it as a moving walkway – similar to the ones at the current Resort that take guests from the parking garages to CityWalk. This could be an effort to make guest arrivals more convenient and efficient.
Anticipation Builds: Epic Universe’s Promising Future
Overall, it’s evident that Epic Universe is coming along nicely and promises to be an incredible addition to Universal’s lineup of parks. With its unique celestial theme and cutting-edge technology, guests are in for a truly epic adventure once it opens its doors in 2025. Stay tuned for more updates on construction progress and exciting developments at Universal’s Epic Universe!
